Contributor's comments:
Jack is one of my all-time favourites. He is similar in style and repetoire to fellow Bentonian (and ex-brother-in-law) Skip James, although Jack's music has a harder edge. Of the Testament CD, Jean-Pierre Urbain had this to say:

Recorded by David Evans, this wonderful Cd contains five previously unreleased tracks. Bentonia country blues at his best. If you're not familiar with the delicious guitar and vocals of Jack Owens or harp of Bud Spires but love Skip James and Mississippi Blues, if you're fed up with the blues-rock sound that we hear all over, if you're simply looking for some deep, wonderfully played Bentonia country blues this is for you! (and also for all the others who have to discover these two great true profound musicians).
