Blues Bibliographic Database

Introduction

I began gathering the material found in this database in the early 1990s, spurred somewhat by the poor quality of blues bibliographies then available. My original idea was for paper publication, but when I discovered the Internet about five years ago, I soon decided that the thing to go for was a free online database!

With the help of P-O Swärd's smart database conversion programming, and Rob Hutten's database design skills, I have now reached my goal.

When fully implemented, the database will hold c:a 15.000 references to articles in magazines, monographs (known as "books" to non-librarians [smile]), articles in monographs, and liner/booklet notes.

Today (July 1999) all magazine articles have been loaded (10.000+ records!).

There will then, of course, be updates with newly published material at regular intervalls.

Apart from my two computer-wise friends already mentioned, several other people have contributed in various ways: Ray Astbury, Alan Balfour, Scott Barretta, Max W. Sievert, Paul Gordon and Chris Smith especially.

NOTE: You are searching a bibliography. This is not a general search engine. Enter a few keywords related to what you are searching for, ie "Son House" or "Guralnick". Queries like "what is the blues?" will not get you very far.
