What is BluesNet?

BluesNet is a WWW-based repository for information on blues performers. It is maintained by Rob Hutten (rob@hutten.org). The idea came about during a discussion on the BLUES-L mailing list which also incited the development of the Blues-l FAQ. (Sorry, my link to this FAQ is out of date... working on an update.)

The artist summaries found on this site were volunteered by a fan of the performer and some of the information is heavily opinion-laden. This is deliberate - we wanted to create a service in which readers could find information not available in the number of excellent blues history and reference books available.

What's this `mentor' nonsense all about?

The net is full of experts on every subject under the sun. We're fortunate to have included amongst these experts some people who are especially knowledgable about certain blues artists or categories. BluesNet includes a section on `mentors' - people who are willing to answer your every question about their area of blues expertise. Got a question about Blind Willie Johnson? Need a good jug band recommendation? Feel free to ask the person listed here. Email address are provided for all mentors.
